i did tell you what he said. that we need more cut-and-dry boundaries if we're going to make this work. guidelines. if someone misses a target in the gun range and it hits the hull of the ship, is that assault? the ship's sentient, according to a few people here. but should we throw the shooter in the brig for a day for the offense? accidents happen. where's the line there? we need to hash out details, that's what he said. it's impossible for everyone to be happy with all the rules and regulations on the ship, but if there's a problem with regards to someone's safety, we have to do whatever it takes to fix it. then again, we can't control people's prejudices and own personal feelings. you don't trust humans, that's clear, maybe even anyone that's 'organic' i wouldn't try to convince you to change your mind, since everyone has been through different things, so we can't exactly insist the same of people who have things against robots, or vampires, or anything else which is why it comes down to the details and rules seeing as he and i are both organic and probably shouldn't be the only ones trying to sort out said changes, that's.. why i came to you which brings us to this conversation right here if you want changes, name them. you insist we don't understand, so help us to that's really all we can do here
no you gave me the same old 'prove your sentience' business
instead of setting down the ground rule of DO NOT TO KILL OR THREATEN ROBOTS your solution is to put all of the responsibility on the robots to differentiate ourselves from kitchen appliances
do you see why that's unfair
and besides trying to decide what's sentient and what's not and then convincing the rest of the crew to go along with it is much harder than enforcing DO NOT KILL OR THREATEN ROBOTS
this doesn't even begin to touch on the fact that killing a robot doesn't even register on SEC's radar as it stands the animals are given more rights than we are as far as that's concerned
on top of that i was told BY A HUMAN MEMBER OF SEC that violence against robots does not exist on this ship which is clearly false as evidenced by the network post i linked you
furthermore the passenger who killed a robot on the network and has assaulted me is a member of SEC and will not be punished nor will he be removed from the team
straight from tyke's mouth by the way
instead of debating the ins and outs of robot sentience or making it the robot's responsibility to prove why they have the right to not be assaulted how about we get to work on things like that first

you'd really be satisfied with a very generic, basic rule of "DO NOT KILL ROBOTS"? will that be enough? threats are just words, there's nothing we can do about that. security can't regulate what people *say* to each other. if someone thinks a threat will be acted on, they can go to security. that's a given. Tyke might be the head of security, but her views don't match everyone else's on the team, not by a long shot again, did you report it to security when you were assaulted? i highly doubt they turned your case away but we can't do anything about what happened in the past and i can't change Tyke's mind about who she brings onto the team and who doesn't so instead of making it sound like i'm demanding outrageous things of you, try taking this for what it is i'm literally asking you what you want to change but we need more than a vague "don't kill anything" response here because that obviously hasn't been enough for anyone because humans and robots and everything in between are at risk when there are people on board that don't follow basic.. decent rules of conduct. there's our real problem, i guess. it's not who's being assaulted, it's the crew members that are doing it. how do we stop violent people from being violent
how about we consistently punish violent people for doing violent things whether the victim is a human or a roomba or someone's cat
how do you think we feel when someone steps up and calls for the destruction of all AI on board and when i take the matter to security they call me ridiculous
how is that keeping passengers safe i don't feel safe
i stopped reporting things because every time i did i was told it was my fault
a member of security assaulted me and not only is he still on the team but i was told it was my fault because i am a robot and he hates robots and i can't expect him to get over that so i should just deal with his violent tendencies
that's what i was told it doesn't matter if tyke's ideas match up with the rest of security because she runs it and she's going to enforce her own policies and her policy is to blame the victim and call them ridiculous
if that's the help i get from SEC maybe i should just stop being a robot
